We identify fire hazards, those at risk and ways to ensure your workplace stays compliant with UK fire safety regulations. Whether inspecting factory floors, high street premises or high rise offices our fire safety advisors safeguard your business with meticulous fire risk assessments.
Fire Risk Assessments
Your Delphi fire safety assessor will locate flammable materials, smoking areas and other potential sources of ignition. They’ll inspect structural features, building fabrics, power supplies and hot surfaces. They’ll identify people at risk, inside and outside of your premises, and plan a route for their safe escape in the event of fire.
Our fire safety inspectors assess fire detection and warning systems, and fire-fighting equipment including sprinklers, extinguishers, tools and fire retardant blankets. They evaluate all fire safety signage, lighting, assembly and muster points, as well as all doorways and exits in your workplace.
Delphi’s health and safety team helps you appoint and train designated responsible people who implemement our recommendations, run drills, keep a logbook, organise evacuations and liaise with emergency services should fire break out.
And we leave you an activity schedule which anticipates changes to working practices, environments, equipment, personnel and hours, as well as other occasions when you must review your fire safety measures.
HOW SAFE IS YOUR WORKPLACE FROM GAS?
Incidents, accidents and emergencies (where someone has died, lost consciousness, or been taken to hospital for treatment to any injury) arising as a result of contact with gas must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive under RIDDOR regulations.
Delphi’s health and safety department also employs ‘Gas Safe’ registered engineers who provide regular maintenance of your gas appliances to avoid ill health, injury or a lack of heat in your workplace. Our HR department can also provide reduced hours or work-from-home policies so your employees remain productive in the event you can’t heat your premises.
OUR 10 POINT FIRE SAFETY PROGRAMME
As part of your fire equipment servicing contract, twice a year an experienced, qualified and accredited Delphi fire safety assessor will visit you to:
- Test the power and sound of your alarms and their link to your alarm centre
- Check you have the right number and type of extinguishers in the right places
- Test the condition, charge and battery drain of your emergency lights
- Test the condition and power of your standby batteries and generators
- Inspect all fire-retardant blankets and clothing, fire safety axes and hammers
- Identify deficiencies in your fire equipment and provide a plan to rectify them
- Quote for remedial work and replacement equipment
- Record their inspection and service in your fire safety logbook
- Issue you with associated reports and certificates
- Train staff to complete monthly alarm, extinguisher and lighting tests
Fire Equipment Servicing
Your business is legally obliged to have its fire alarms, extinguishers and emergency lighting serviced and maintained at least twice a year.
Delphi makes sure you have the correct type and amount of working fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers and emergency tools around your premises, as well as emergency lighting which functions during a power cut. We provide fire alarm, extinguisher and emergency lighting servicing so you know they’ll work when needed.
Our fire safety inspectors are fully insured with public liability insurance and provide you with associated reports and certificates once they have tested and serviced your fire safety equipment.
They also help you appoint and provide training for designated responsible people who must test your fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting and record their activities in a fire safety logbook once a month.
